These terms cover this website and the website design service I offer as Rayvans Web. They're written in plain English. If anything is unclear, just ask.

1. Who I am

Rayvans Web is run by Ray van Wingerden, a sole trader based in Buckinghamshire ("I", "me"). You can reach me at rayvanwing7@gmail.com or on 07414 525000.

2. Using this website

The information on this website is general and may change. I try to keep it accurate and available, but I can't promise it will always be complete, up to date or online. Links to other websites are there for convenience; I'm not responsible for their content.

3. Website previews

Sometimes I design a preview of a new website for a local business before they've asked, using information that business has made public. Previews are clearly marked as previews, are hidden from search engines and are not the business's official website. Business names, logos and photos remain the property of their owners. If you'd like a preview of your business taken down, reply "no thanks" or email me and I'll remove it promptly.

4. The service

• A new website costs £600, one-off, for the design and build as shown and agreed.
• Changes beyond the agreed design, or extras such as online booking, ordering or more pages, are quoted separately before any work starts.
• Hosting and care is optional, at £300 a year.
• The full details for each client are set out in a short written agreement before work is paid for.

5. Your content and sign-off

You're responsible for everything your website says and shows, including text, prices, opening hours, menus, allergen information, qualifications, awards and other claims, and photos. This applies even where I've prepared the wording for you from your existing website or other public sources. Before your website goes live, please check every page and confirm it's correct. Once you've approved it, I'm not responsible for errors in that content.

By sending me content, logos or photos, you confirm you have the right to use them, and you agree to cover me for any claim that you didn't.

6. Ownership

Once you've paid in full, the website design and content are yours to use. I may show the work in my portfolio. I keep the rights to my own code, tools and techniques, which I may reuse. Stock photos are used under their own licences, such as the Unsplash licence.

7. Hosting and care

If you take the hosting and care plan, I'll make reasonable efforts to keep your website running, secure and backed up, but I can't guarantee it will never be unavailable. Hosting relies on third-party providers. Your domain name should be registered in your name, and renewing it is your responsibility unless we agree otherwise in writing.

8. Other services

Your website may use or link to services I don't control, such as hosting, domain registrars, maps, booking, ordering, payment and email providers. I'm not responsible for how those services work, their availability or what they do with data.

9. No guaranteed results

A better website should help people find and choose you, but I can't guarantee search rankings, visitor numbers, bookings or sales.

10. Liability

My total liability to you for anything connected with my service is limited to the amount you've paid me in the 12 months before the claim. I'm not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss of profit, revenue, bookings, data or goodwill. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can't be limited by law.

11. Payment

Invoices are due within 14 days. Your website goes live on your own domain once payment has been received, unless we agree otherwise.

12. Changes and law

I may update these terms from time to time; the latest version is always on this page. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
